The Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, has called for a fundamental reset of the Nigerian state as the country marks its 66th Independence anniversary.
In a goodwill message shared on Thursday, Kamorudeen congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and drew a sharp contrast between Nigeria’s developmental journey and that of China, a country that shares the same Independence Day date of October 1.
“October 1st is a date Nigeria shares with the People’s Republic of China. The trajectories, however, could not be more divergent. China has demonstrably leveraged the more than seventy years since its revolution to engineer sustained transformation. Nigeria, abundantly endowed in human and material resources, ought by now to have extracted far greater developmental value from its sixty-six years of sovereign existence,” the Chairman stated.
He emphasised that at 66 years of independence, the era of excuses must come to an end.

“At 66, the season of excuses has run its course. What the Nigerian state urgently requires is a fundamental #RESET, a deliberate reorientation of institutions, leadership, and national purpose, if the promise of independence is ever to be redeemed,” Kamorudeen declared.
The Lagelu Council boss expressed optimism that with purposeful leadership and collective commitment, Nigeria can still fulfil the aspirations of its founding fathers, while wishing all Nigerians a happy and reflective Independence Day.
