Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, Hon. Adepoju congratulated Nigerians, especially the good and prosperous people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, on what he described as 66 solid years of independence for the most populous black nation in the world.
The federal lawmaker appreciated the resilience of Nigerians despite the untold hardships and various challenges occasioned by bad governance.
The lawmaker also used the occasion to honour Nigerian nationalists whose blood and sacrifices paved the way for the independence we enjoy today. He prayed for the repose of those who are no longer alive and wished those still alive sound health and prosperity.

He said that as Nigerians continue to face difficult times as a result of the anti-people policies of the present government, there is a need for leadership that cares about the well-being of the people and a new direction of governance. He urged Nigerians to leave no stone unturned in seizing the opportunity presented by the next general election to reset Nigeria and support Engr. Seyi Makinde as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
To mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the lawmaker said his much-talked-about empowerment programme will hold this month, alongside a series of other programmes, including the commissioning of projects.
The Ibarapa-born technocrat cum politician appreciated the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency for their support over the last three years and for giving him the mandate to serve. He placed his reelection bid in the hands of God and the people of the two local government areas, stating that he would not let anyone down if given the opportunity to serve for another term and continue his infrastructure and human capital development drive.
He, however, prayed for peace, progress, development and stability as the nation celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary.
