There was massive jubilation in Ibadan South West Local Government on Tuesday as the consensus Chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Hon. Idris Adewale Akanbi, and his running mate, Hon. Hassan Bello, joined party members and traders in a thanksgiving visit to the family compound of Arole Iba Oluyole, Oloye Nureni Akanbi, to express appreciation.
The visit, which turned into a mini rally, saw hundreds of party faithful, market men and women, youth groups and community leaders trooping out to celebrate the peaceful emergence of the APM leadership team for Ibadan South West LG.
Speaking during the appreciation, Hon. Idris Akanbi expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde, APM leaders across Oyo State, and all aspirants who contested for the chairmanship ticket. He said their maturity and spirit of unity made the consensus process possible.
“I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for his fatherly role and development of the state, our party leaders, elders, and all my fellow aspirants. Your support, understanding, and commitment to the unity of APM in Ibadan South West is commendable,” Hon. Akanbi stated.
He noted that the peaceful consensus arrangement is a sign that APM is united and ready to deliver purposeful leadership at the grassroots. He promised to run an inclusive administration that will prioritize security, market development, youth empowerment, and improved welfare for residents of Ibadan South West.

In his remarks, Arole Iba Oluyole, Oloye Nureni Akanbi, appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for his love for Oyo State. He promised that the family and stakeholders in Ibadan South West would work to ensure that APM retains the seat of governance in the state.
He described Hon. Idris Akanbi and Hon. Hassan Bello as capable and grassroots-oriented leaders who will bring development closer to the people.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Hassan Bello, joined the Chairmanship candidate to appreciate the Governor, party leaders and members. He called for peace across the party and urged all aspirants and members to close ranks for the overall victory of APM in the forthcoming local government elections.
Party leaders and traders who spoke at the event described the Akanbi-Bello ticket as a balanced team with capacity and accessibility. They pledged to mobilize massively for APM to ensure victory across all 33 local government areas.
The atmosphere was filled with drumming, dancing and chants of solidarity as party members moved through major streets in the local government in celebration.
