…Landlords and Residents Call for Construction of Gesthemane Bridge, Road Rehabilitation
Landlords, landladies and residents of Gesthemane, Idi Ahun, Abese and other neighbouring communities in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have appealed to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to urgently intervene in the deplorable condition of roads across their communities.
The residents, who expressed concern over the poor state of the roads, said the situation had continued to cause hardship for motorists, residents, business owners and other road users.
They particularly called for the construction of the Gesthemane Bridge, which serves as a vital link to Idi Ahun, Abese and several other neighbouring communities.

According to the residents, the poor condition of the roads has negatively affected transportation and economic activities, making movement within the communities increasingly difficult, especially during the rainy season.
The community leaders and landlords appealed to Governor Makinde to extend his administration’s infrastructural development efforts to the affected areas, noting that good roads would improve accessibility, enhance economic activities and boost the overall living conditions of residents.
They also called on the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, to support their appeal by facilitating the necessary intervention and ensuring that the concerns of the affected communities receive adequate attention.
Speaking on behalf of the communities, leaders representing about 20 communities in the area, including Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajigbotolorun, Chairman; Idowu Oladipipo, Secretary; Alhaji Taofeek Adisa, Treasurer; and Alhaji Dauda Olowo, alongside several landlords’ association chairmen, appealed to the state government to urgently address the challenges facing the communities.
The leaders expressed optimism that Governor Makinde would respond positively to their appeal, stressing that improved road infrastructure remains essential to the development and well-being of the people.
They acknowledged the importance of road infrastructure to community development and urged the state government to prioritise the construction of the Gesthemane Bridge and the rehabilitation of connecting roads.
The residents maintained that the proposed road projects would bring significant relief to thousands of people living and conducting business in the affected communities.
They therefore appealed to Governor Makinde and the Ido Local Government Chairman to consider their request as a matter of urgent public importance, expressing hope that the intervention would improve connectivity and stimulate development across the affected communities.
