The Oyo south senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, on Friday sought the support of the muslim community in Sabo, Ibadan, for his senatorial ambition, urging worshippers at the Sabo central mosque to rally behind his aspiration ahead of the 2027 general election.

Olajide, who is also the member representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, made the appeal shortly after observing the friday jumat prayer at the sabo central mosque, where he met with Islamic clerics, community leaders and worshippers.

Addressing the congregation, the federal lawmaker described himself as a brother in faith, urging members of the muslim community not to distance themselves from his aspiration to represent Oyo south senatorial district in the senate.

He stressed that his appeal was founded on mutual trust and his track record of service to the people.

“I am your brother in faith. I appeal to you in the name of almighty Allah to stand by me and support the Allied Peoples’ Movement.

“With your prayers and support, I am confident that this mandate can be realized.

The two term lawmaker, who noted that the relationship between the people of sabo and the host communities has continued to promote peaceful coexistence and political participation in the state, described the Arewa community as a critical stakeholder in the political landscape of Oyo state.

He acknowledged the strategic role of the Arewa community in the electoral process in Oyo state, noting that the bloc has consistently contributed to democratic development through active political participation and peaceful engagement, urging worshipers and residents to continue to support leaders who have demonstrated commitment to inclusive representation, accountability and community development.

Olajide also reiterated his resolve to sustain his legislative interventions, promising that, if elected into the senate, he would pursue policies and programmes that promote youth empowerment, educational advancement, economic opportunities, security and infrastructure development across the nine local government areas of Oyo south senatorial district.

He assured the congregation that his aspiration transcends politics, stressing that public service remains a sacred responsibility anchored on justice, equity and compassion for all irrespective of religion or ethnicity.

In a demonstration of support for religious and community development, the federal lawmaker announced a donation of ₦10 million towards the ongoing development of the Sabo central mosque.

He described the contribution as part of his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote faith, unity Andrew to be community development.

Leaders of the mosque and members of the Muslim community expressed appreciation for the donation and commended Olajide for identifying with the community. They offered prayers for Allah’s continued guidance, protection and wisdom for the lawmaker, praying that Almighty Allah grants him good health, strength and success in his service to humanity.
