The Oluyole Local Government has blamed the lawmaker representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tolulope Sadipe, for the deteriorating condition of the Arogo section of the Ayegun/Olomi Road.

This was as the Council alleged negligence and poor supervision of an ongoing federal road project under the watch of the two time federal lawmaker.

The executive chairman of the local government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, made the allegation while speaking to newsmen shortly after an inspection visit to the road on Thursday.

He said the persistent flooding and hardship being experienced by residents in the area stem from the failure to construct a major culvert on the busy federal road, despite the project’s importance to thousands of residents.

According to the council chairman, only concrete rings were installed at the flood-prone location instead of a standard culvert, a development he described as grossly inadequate for a densely populated community.

The council boss alleged that the situation reflected poor supervision of the project by the federal lawmaker, who he said had the responsibility of ensuring quality execution of constituency projects.

Olatunji maintained that the failure to provide the required drainage infrastructure has worsened flooding in the area, exposing residents and motorists to avoidable risks during the rainy season.

Meanwhile, Olatunji, also addressed concerns over the condition of the Sanyo road, which leads to his private residence.

Olatunji commended residents for their patience, understanding and continued support for his administration, assuring them that the road will soon be repaired.

He explained that although he and members of his family would also benefit from the rehabilitation of the road, his administration had deliberately prioritised other locations facing more critical infrastructure challenges.

According to him, public interest remains paramount, stressing that available resources are being channelled first to areas requiring urgent intervention.

The council chairman assured residents that the Sanyo road had already been captured in the council’s road rehabilitation plans and would be attended to as soon as the relevant technical departments completed the necessary preliminary works.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure across the local government and appealed to residents to continue supporting ongoing efforts aimed at delivering sustainable development.

He expressed profound gratitude to the governor for providing what he described as visionary and pragmatic leadership for grassroots development.

He said the success of his administration at the grassroots could not have been lauded by the people if necessary support and guidance were not provided by the governor, whom he called a political mentor, leader, and father.
