The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East Costituency 2 at the Oyo State House Of Assembly and PDP candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for 2027 general election, Hon.Olayinka Omikunle has officially resigned his membership from the party.


This was made available to the journalist and general public, today Thursday May 7, 2026, through a statement issued by his media aid Oludotun Ajibola.
The lawmaker while speaking on his decision to quit the oldest political platform in Nigeria .Hon.Omikunle stated that the internal crisis of the party can no longer permit him to stay in the umbrella platform.

“I sincerely appreciate the Peoples Democratic Party for the opportunity and support I enjoyed during my time in the party. However, after careful consultation and deep personal reflection, I have decided to resign my membership from the PDP and move on to the next phase of my political journey.


My profound appreciation goes to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his leadership, mentorship, and support over the years. I also appreciate all leaders and stakeholders in Ibadan South East constituency 2 and across Oyo State for their encouragement, cooperation, and unwaiving support toward my political journey.


I remain deeply focus to continue with my effective and good representation to the grassroots development.while I promised to continue to represent my good people at the Oyo House of Assembly”

Hon.Omikunle also appreciates party members, youths, women,supporters, and political associates who stood by him throughout his stay in Peoples Democratic Party while he maintained that he will forever cherish the moment.

I reassured the people of my Constituency of my continued commitment to their progress, welfare, and aspirations, adding that his next political move would be made known very soon.
