The Local Government Vice Chairmen in Oyo State, have commended Governor ‘Seyi Makinde and the nation’s security agencies for securing the safe release of the pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro-Esinle Community in Oriire Local Government Area after 55 days in captivity.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the vice Chairmen described the victims’ rescue as a welcome development that has brought immense relief to their families, the affected community, and the people of Oyo State.
They praised Governor Makinde for demonstrating purposeful leadership and unwavering commitment throughout the period of the victims’ captivity, noting that the state government remained resolute in its determination to ensure their safe return.
The vice chairmen also applauded the coordinated efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local vigilante groups, and other stakeholders whose collaboration contributed to the successful rescue operation.

According to them, the victims’ safe return reflects the effectiveness of synergy among security agencies and reaffirms the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Oyo State.
They urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would strengthen intelligence gathering and help prevent criminal activities in their communities.
While rejoicing with the rescued pupils, teachers, and their families, they prayed for their speedy physical, emotional, and psychological recovery from the trauma of their ordeal.
The vice chairmen further reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, security, and community development, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration between government, security agencies, traditional institutions, and residents would continue to enhance public safety across Oyo State.
They concluded by calling on citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and united in the collective effort to build a safer and more secure Oyo State for all.
