Onijo Hails Saki’s Overlooked Heroes, Emphasizes Contributions to Community Development …Seeks Support for Makinde, Adekanmbi, Peller, Adebisi, and Kabir

The Chairmanship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Saki West Local Government Area, Barrister Lateef Abiola Sarafadeen, popularly known as Onijo, has celebrated some of Saki’s forgotten heroes, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the community.

The event, held on Monday at the IPMAN Hall, Isale Taba, Saki, brought together community leaders, elders, youth groups and residents to honour individuals whose sacrifices, dedication and service have contributed significantly to the development of Saki but have largely gone unrecognised over the years.

Speaking at the event, Onijo said the initiative was designed to shine a light on the unsung men and women who worked tirelessly to establish and support schools, markets, health centres and other critical infrastructure across the community.

According to him, the progress being witnessed in Saki today would not have been possible without the selfless contributions of these community builders.

“Saki is where it is today because of the sweat, wisdom and commitment of our forgotten heroes. They may not have held big titles, but their impact is written all over this community,” he said.
Onijo further pledged that, if elected as Chairman, his administration would institutionalise an annual recognition programme for community heroes while ensuring that their legacies are properly documented for younger generations.

He said such recognition would not only honour the contributions of past community builders but also inspire the younger generation to embrace service, sacrifice and community development.

The APM chairmanship candidate also used the occasion to canvass support for the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged the people of Saki to mobilise massively behind the APM presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde; the governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi; the Oyo North Senatorial candidate, Hon. Shina Peller; the House of Representatives candidate for Saki West/Saki East/Atisbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Niyi Adebisi; and the House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Salaudeen Kabir.

Onijo described the APM candidates as tested leaders with the capacity to provide purposeful leadership, deliver good governance and attract meaningful development to the Oke-Ogun zone.

“We need leaders who understand our challenges and are ready to work. APM presents that alternative. From the presidency to the local government, we must vote for leaders who will put the people first,” he said.
Traditional rulers and community leaders at the event commended Onijo for the initiative, describing it as a timely reminder of the need to appreciate the men and women who laid the foundation for modern Saki.

They prayed for his success in the forthcoming local government election and urged residents to support credible candidates who have the genuine interest of the community at heart.

The event featured cultural performances, goodwill messages and the presentation of awards to some of the honoured heroes and their families.
