The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Akande, on Friday inspected the ongoing construction of the Amotekun Corps post at Popoyemoja area of the council, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to adequate security and safety of lives and property.
During the site visit, Hon. Akande assessed the level of work and interacted with officers of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps. He commended their dedication and stressed that community-based security outfits like Amotekun remain vital to grassroots policing.
“The safety of our people is non-negotiable. This Amotekun post at Popoyemoja is strategic for quick response to security concerns in this axis and adjoining communities. We will ensure its completion and provide necessary support for effective operations,” the Chairman said.
Hon. Akande assured residents that his administration, in collaboration with the state government and security agencies, would sustain proactive measures to curb crime, prevent unrest, and maintain peace across Ibadan South West. He urged community members to cooperate with security operatives by sharing timely information.

The Supervisory Councillor on Works, Hon. Kazeem Ashipa; Supervisory Councillor on Infrastructure, Hon. Tunde Oluyedun; and the Director of Works at the Council, Mr. Ademola Olona were part of the wmroueage Their presence underscored the council’s commitment to providing adequate facilities and infrastructure for the post.
Residents of Popoyemoja and surrounding areas who witnessed the inspection expressed appreciation to the Chairman for the project, noting that the forthcoming Amotekun post has already boosted their confidence.
The construction of the Amotekun Corps post at Popoyemoja is part of ongoing efforts by Ibadan South West LG to strengthen local security architecture and bring policing closer to the people.
