The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo popularly called (O mu Yes), on Monday featured on Situation Room, a current affairs programme on Fresh 105.9 FM, Ibadan, where he articulated his vision for Oyo State ahead of the 2027 governorship election while also highlighting the achievements of his administration at the grassroots.

Hon. Akintayo, who recently declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), used the radio platform to further engage the public on his leadership capacity, experience and commitment to service.

During the programme, the Council boss gave a detailed account of his administration’s performance in Ibadan North-East Local Government, noting that his tenure has been driven by people-oriented policies and impactful projects.

He emphasized achievements in education, including the payment of WAEC and NECO fees for indigent students, provision of learning materials, and promotion of academic excellence.

He also highlighted various social intervention and empowerment initiatives, such as the distribution of vocational tools, financial support for vulnerable groups, and skill acquisition programmes for youths and women aimed at promoting self-reliance and economic stability.

Speaking on his governorship ambition, Hon. Akintayo stated that his decision to aspire for higher office is rooted in his desire to replicate his grassroots development model on a larger scale across Oyo State. He noted that his experience in governance and close connection with the people have prepared him for the task ahead.

The Chairman further reiterated his commitment to sustaining and expanding the developmental strides of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, whose administration he commended for laying a solid foundation in infrastructure, economic growth, and good governance.

“I am stepping forward with a clear vision and a deep sense of responsibility to serve the people of Oyo State. My goal is to build on existing achievements and deliver inclusive development that will benefit all,” he said.

The Chairman was accompanied to the radio programme by key political stakeholders and top officials of the Local Government, including the PDP Chairman, Ibadan North-East Local Government, Alhaji Isiaq Fatokun (Baba Abuye); the Leader of the House, Hon. Abdul Mojeed Igbalajobi; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Femi Afolabi; Councillors, Supervisors, Special Assistants and other political functionaries.

Also present were the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Omolara Aremu; Heads of Departments; Unit Heads; the newly elected NULGE Executives; and a host of supporters and well-wishers.

The appearance on the radio programme provided an opportunity for residents and listeners across the State to gain insight into both his performance in office and his broader plans for the future of Oyo State.
