Hon Comforter Hails Makinde, Wife on Ibarapa Chieftaincy Honour ••• Describes Aare and Yeye Soludero Titles as Recognition of Service and Leadership

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly and the APM candidate for the constituency, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi Olajide, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and his wife, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, following their recognition with the distinguished traditional titles of Aare Soludero and Yeye Soludero, respectively.

The honours were conferred by the Ibarapa Traditional Council at the palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adedayo Adeagbola, in recognition of the esteem in which the governor and his wife are held within the traditional community.

In a statement made available to newsmen by her media team, Hon. Comforter described the development as a moment of pride for the Makinde family and a meaningful acknowledgement of their relationship with the people and traditional institutions of Oyo State.

She said traditional titles remain an important part of Yoruba society because they provide an avenue for communities to publicly acknowledge individuals whose conduct, contributions and relationship with the people have earned their respect.

According to the lawmaker, the conferment of Aare Soludero on Governor Makinde and Yeye Soludero on Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde is particularly significant because it reflects the goodwill that exists between the Makinde administration and the traditional institutions across Oyo State.

Hon. Comforter, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, noted that effective governance requires cooperation among government, traditional institutions and the people, adding that such relationships are essential to sustaining peace and accelerating grassroots development.

She commended the Ibarapa Traditional Council for honouring the governor and his wife, while acknowledging the leadership of the Eleruwa of Eruwa for his role in preserving the customs, values and heritage of the people.

The lawmaker further congratulated Governor Makinde on what she described as the growing recognition of his administration’s efforts in areas of infrastructure, economic expansion, social development and inclusive governance.

She said the honour should not merely be viewed as a ceremonial distinction but as an additional call to continued service and responsibility.

Hon. Comforter also praised Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde for her contributions to society and her support for initiatives that promote the welfare and inclusion of women and vulnerable members of society.

She expressed confidence that the new traditional designations would further strengthen the relationship between the Makinde family and the people of Ibarapa, while promoting greater collaboration between traditional rulers and government.

“I sincerely congratulate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and Her Excellency, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, on this distinguished recognition.

“The Aare Soludero and Yeye Soludero titles are a demonstration of honour and goodwill. They also represent a responsibility to continue strengthening the bond between leadership, the traditional institution and the people.

Hon. Comforter urged residents of Oyo State to continue to value and support the traditional institution, describing it as an enduring custodian of the people’s culture, identity and communal values.
