Forum of local government Assistants Secretaries(FOLGAS) across all local governments in Oyo State have commended Governor Seyi Makinde for hosting the recent meeting of opposition political parties in Ibadan.
In a statement signed by the Coordinator to the Assistant Secretaries in Oyo State, Alhaja Bolanle Oladeji, the group described the gathering as historic and a significant move towards strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
They noted that the meeting, held in the Oyo State capital, demonstrated Governor Makinde’s commitment to national unity, political inclusion and democratic values.
According to the statement, the governor has consistently maintained that Nigeria is a multi-religious and multi-party nation where all political parties should be allowed to coexist peacefully, participate freely in elections and operate without undue interference.
The group further stated that the convergence of opposition leaders in Ibadan was an important step in ensuring that Nigeria does not drift into a one-party system.
They also expressed appreciation to political leaders from opposition parties across the country for their commitment to the growth and progress of the nation.
The Assistant Secretaries reaffirmed their support for Governor Makinde’s leadership and prayed for continued wisdom and success for him in the discharge of his duties.
They concluded by wishing continued progress for Oyo State and Nigeria.
