APM IBSWLG Chairman Candidate, Hon. Idris Adewale Akanbi Appreciates Gov. Makinde, IBSWLG Leaders, Calls for Unity

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, consensus candidate for Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Idris Adewale Akanbi, has expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde and all political leaders in the local government for their support and leadership during the consultation process.

In a statement released on Friday, Hon. Akanbi described his emergence as the consensus candidate as a collective victory for the party and the people of Ibadan South West.

He specifically thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for his purposeful leadership in Oyo State, and commended all political leaders in Ibadan South West for their maturity, guidance and commitment to ensuring a peaceful selection process.

“I appreciate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and all our political leaders in Ibadan South West Local Government for their fatherly role and support. This endorsement is not for me alone, it is for the progress of our party and our people,” Hon. Akanbi said.

The chairman candidate also congratulated his Vice Chairman,Alhaji Hassan Bello and all other consensus candidates across the local government, including the Vice Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates, on their emergence. He described them as capable men and women who will work together to deliver good governance at the grassroots.

Hon. Akanbi further called for peace and love among party members, urging everyone to put the interest of APM above personal differences ahead of the December 2026 local government election.

“Let us embrace peace and love. We must remain united as one family. I seek the cooperation of all party members, stakeholders, youths and women to work together so that APM will record a resounding victory in Ibadan South West,” he added.

He pledged to run an inclusive administration that will prioritize infrastructure, youth empowerment, women development, and improved welfare for residents of Ibadan South West.

Party leaders in the area lauded Hon. Akanbi for his humility and message of unity, describing him as a grassroots politician with the capacity to unite the party and deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
