Omituntun Benedict Foundation OBF Founder, Agba’Akin Benedict Akika, the Agba’Akin Ataiyse Agbaye Oodua has strongly reached out to the public, urging them to take action against the cholera outbreak that has claimed numerous lives in the country.

Chief Akika emphasized the importance of proper hygiene practices, access to clean water, and sanitation facilities in preventing the spread of cholera. He also highlighted the need for collective action, stating that “Cholera is a preventable disease, and it is our responsibility to take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves and our loved ones,” Akika said. “We must prioritize proper hygiene practices, such as washing our hands regularly, drinking clean water, and using proper sanitation facilities.”

The Mayegun of Akoboland, Oloye Benedict also urged the government to invest in improving access to clean water and sanitation facilities, particularly in rural and underserved communities. “We need to work together to ensure that everyone has access to these basic necessities,” he added.

The philanthropist’s call to action comes as Nigeria experiences a surge in cholera cases, with several states reporting outbreaks. Health experts have attributed the spread of the disease to poor hygiene practices and inadequate access to clean water and sanitation facilities.

He further listed how to avoid cholera.

“I importantly want to bring to your awareness that the following guidelines should be ensured to avoid the Cholera disease;

1. Drink clean water: Stick to bottled or boiled water, and avoid untreated water sources like wells or rivers.
