As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, emerging political calculations and alignments appear to be tilting in favour of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) and its gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi.

Political observers argue that the current permutation in the state presents a unique advantage for the APM standard-bearer, who is widely regarded as one of the most acceptable figures across political divides. Unlike many candidates whose support is largely restricted to their respective political parties, Adekanmbi is believed to enjoy goodwill that cuts across party lines.

Within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adekanmbi is said to command significant respect due to his longstanding relationships with key political stakeholders and his perceived capacity for inclusive governance. His acceptance among sections of the ruling party has further strengthened speculations that he could emerge as a consensus candidate capable of attracting support beyond partisan considerations.

Similarly, many members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reportedly view Adekanmbi as a political associate and trusted ally, despite his emergence on the platform of the APM. This cross-party appeal has continued to generate discussions within the state’s political landscape, with many analysts describing it as one of his strongest assets ahead of the election.

Beyond political circles, Adekanmbi is also seen by many members of the public as a credible alternative capable of addressing the developmental aspirations of Oyo State. His public service experience, administrative background and engagement with grassroots communities have contributed to his growing popularity among voters.

Adding to the political equation is the perceived support of Governor Seyi Makinde, whose influence remains significant in Oyo politics. Political commentators believe that any alignment between the governor and the APM candidate could further reshape the electoral landscape and strengthen Adekanmbi’s prospects.

While the election is still some time away and political dynamics may change, the current indicators suggest that the APM has positioned itself as a formidable force in the race. With increasing acceptance across party lines and growing public support, many believe that the prevailing political permutation currently favours Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and the Allied People’s Movement.

As the countdown to 2027 continues, all eyes will remain on Oyo State’s evolving political environment and how the various alliances, endorsements and voter sentiments eventually shape the outcome of the governorship contest.
