‘The Kind of Representatives We Have Been Having in Akinyele/Lagelu Is Below Standard’ — ADLAT

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Hon. Toheeb Adegoke ADLAT, has said his dissatisfaction with the quality of representation in the constituency is one of the major factors that motivated his decision to contest for the House of Representatives.

ADLAT stated this during an interview with Isaac Mayor, where he spoke about his background, leadership experience and motivation for seeking elective office.

According to him, his professional background in engineering, coupled with his experience in problem-solving, financial management and people management, has prepared him for the responsibilities associated with public leadership.

“The kind of representatives we have been having in Akinyele/Lagelu is lower, which is one of my driving factors to come out,” ADLAT said.

He explained that his decision to contest was driven by his desire to offer what he described as a different approach to legislative representation, adding that Akinyele/Lagelu deserves a new voice and a fresh approach.

ADLAT also expressed his readiness for the forthcoming election, saying he is prepared to present his ideas, experience and vision to the electorate and allow the people to make their choice.

The APM candidate further stressed the importance of youth participation in governance and decision-making. He argued that young people should not limit their political participation to social media advocacy but should also become actively involved in processes that affect their future.

“Younger people should be involved in any decision that affects them. We should not be advocating only online,” he said.

He explained that meaningful youth participation requires young people to move beyond online conversations and take an active role in leadership, representation and decision-making.

ADLAT added that his ambition goes beyond occupying a seat at the National Assembly, saying he intends to bring his professional experience, ideas and problem-solving approach to legislative representation.

His comments have added to the ongoing political conversation in Akinyele/Lagelu ahead of the next electoral cycle, particularly on the quality of representation, youth participation and the expectations of constituents from their next representative.
