Indications have emerged that the son of the former governor of Oyo State,Olamiju,a member of the Federal. House of Representatives, may be dragged in as running mate to Senator Saradeen Abiodun Ali,a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress(APC) who is being taunted as the consensus candidate of the party.

Sources close to the camp of the aspirant who enjoys the support of a paramount traditional ruler in the state revealed that Olamiju might be replacing Soji Adedeji, younger brother of the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service and sponsor of Sarafa Ali for the governorship ticket.
A source disclosed that concerns within the camp of the paramount ruler that the choice of Zach Adedeji’s brother may undermine the chances of the AAPC in the gubernatorial election.

It is felt that Soji Adedeji and His senior brother lacks ny significant political following which may attract sufficient votes in the Ogbomosho axis for the party to win the governorship election.

A source within the camp stated that while everybody in the camp of the traditional ruler conceded that they need Zacheus Adedeji to provide the funds for the election, they are worried that the funds could prove wasted if the election is lost because of the use of his brother as running mate.

It is feared that with the division in the APC over the choice of gubernatorial candidate, they cannot afford to have a deputy governor who will not bring any bloc votes into the ticket.

‘Their position is that with Makinde also picking a successor from Ibadan, the votes in Ibadan would be shared among the parties, including even Accord Party which is promoting Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat,a popular radio personality. That will shift the battle to Oke Ogun and Ogbomosho, the two areas with significant worries.
It is being reasoned that with the Oke Ogun people vowing not to support a deputy governor from their area, the only area left to seek bloc votesthrough the choice of deputy governor would be the Ogbomosho area.
It is feared that if Makinde also picks his preferred deputy governorship candidate from Ogbomosho,Ogbomosho will become the battlefield for bloc votes and they will need a strong politician from Ogbomosho to contest for
such votes. Ogbomosho has approximately 10 percent of the registered votes and any party that takes the chunk of this will be in a good stead to win the governorship election.
In the camp of the monarch,it is feared that Soji Adedeji do not have the capacity to take a majority of the votes in Ogbomosho especially if Makinde picks his preffered deputy governorship candidate from Ogbomosho North as being speculated.

The group has started looking for a possible candidate from Ogbomosho North and Orire Local government areas with focus being placed on Akala’s son because of the folklore followership that his father enjoys in Ogbomosho.
