Saki

Oke-Ogun

It is election season and it is normal for politicians to make false or exagerated claims to market their candidates. However, the supporters of Chief (Mrs) Hannah Ogunesan took this falsehood to a ridiculous level with the ascription of all achievements and activities of the Abiola Ajomobi Government in Oyo North Senatorial District to Ogunesan. How on earth can anyone credit Oguesan with the upgrade of Oke Ogun Polythecnic to Ogunesan?. That was a collective government policy under Governor Abiola Ajimobi which also upgraded the campus of the Polythecnic in Eruwa to Ibarapa Polythecnic in 2013. At the time, Ogunesan was a mere deputy director in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and was therefore, not even a member of the state executive council which approved the policy. Or is she the one also responsible for the upgrade of the Eruwa campus to Ibarapa Polythecnic?Or is the writer saying that every other person from Oke Ogun in the Ajimobi government was useless while Ogunesan was the only responsible one?

She was also falsely credited with the dualisation of Iseyin and Saki township roads. This is a blatant lie. That decision was a government policy taken at the state executive council meeting in October, 2012. The meeting had prominent Oke Ogun indigenes in attendance. including the then Deputy Governor, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, the then Chief of Staff, then Dr Adeolu Akande, the then Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the late Hon. Ajiboye Omodewu; the then Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Wasiu Oladimeji; the then Commissioner for Applied Sciences, Mr Bayo Olagbenro and the late Commissioner for Health, Dr Lateef Olopoenia. Ogunesan was then a deputy director(Inspectorate) under Jiboye Omodewu and was therefor, not even a member of the cabinet that took the decision. When the governor decided on dualising the Iseyin township road first, the Babalaje of Saki,Chief Michael Koleoso, who was instrumental to the emergence of Senator Ajimobi as ACN governorship candidate in 2011, expressed his displeasure and the governor promptly decided to dualise the township road in Saki as well. Baba Koleoso of blessed memory takes personal credit for the road in Saki while Governor Ajimobi takes personal credit for the one in Iseyin. It is fraudulent to ascribe the achievements to someone who was not even a member of the cabinet.

The claim of her role in the establishment of the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Kishi is another lie taken too far. The former Chairman of Irepo Local Government , Hon Yekeen Popoola a.k.a. ALGON was the one who used his influence with Governor Abiola Ajimobi to get the government to establish the institution and the Kishi community has expectedly awarded him many laurels for the feat. He not only facilitated the school, he mobilised resources from the state, the local government and got prominent indigenes of the town to contribute to its start-off infrastructure. In the 10 year history of the establishment of the institution, not once has anybody attributed the establishment to Ogunesan before the present blasphemy. Ogunesan,Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin who was the Commissioner for Health who supervised the establishment of the College and Popoola, who facilitated it are alive. If Ogunesan disputes this account, let her publicly grant an interview to claim credit for the collegel,i am sure Popoola will react with facts and figures.

So also is the laughable claim that she facilitated the College of Health Sciences and Technology in Okeho. That credit goes to Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, an indigene of Okeho, who was then the Commissioner for Health under the Ajimobi government. Is it not funny that someone will credit Ogunesan with the establishment of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Okeho when the project was established and supervised by an indigene of Okeho? If Ogunesan wants to contest this account, let her grant an interview to claim credit for the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology in Okeho. Dr Gbadegesin is alive and I am sure he will contradict her with facts and figures.

It is more laughable that the writer credited Ogunesan with the attraction of federal infrastructure projects to Oyo North while she served in the civil service of Oyo State. How nah? This is ignorance of government operations taken too far. Must you appropriate the achievements of people like Senator Fatai Buhari to Ogunesan? It is not surprising that the ghost writers shied away from mentioning specific projects otherwise they would have pitched her against federal legislators and appointees responsible for such projects.

Rather than those false achievements credited to her,the truth is that Ogunesan’s influence in Oke Ogun while in office was the destruction the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the zone from which the party is yet to recover. The exit of veterans of progressives politics in Oyo North like Chief Michael Koleoso,Chief Adelere in Iseyin and Chief Titilade Awakan in Okaka was due to the intrusion of Ogunesan into the party and the systemic destruction of its cherished values of respect for elders, consultative politics and commitment to the development of society. No amount of whitewashing will cleanse this stain and the earlier the fake writes who masquerade as Ajimobi Leadership Forum stop the nonsense, the better for the image of their paymaster. They do not represent the Ajimobi group or family and the more they use the name to propagate falsehood, the more the eminent politician would be turning in his grave.Ajimobi is not a name to drag in the mud and we advise they desist from using the distinguished name to play their dirty politics. Dont dress Madam Ogunesan in borrowed rope.
