Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo, widely recognized as RAD, has officially announced her candidacy for the Oyo State House of Assembly, aiming to represent the Lagelu Constituency in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Her declaration emphasized a powerful call for enhanced women’s representation in governance.

At the event, RAD fervently appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde, party leaders, stakeholders, and community members to transcend mere promises and actively promote greater female participation in political roles.

She articulated the pressing need for a paradigm shift that amplifies women’s voices within the legislative framework.

Expressing deep gratitude towards Governor Makinde for his consistent advocacy for women’s empowerment, RAD lauded him as a dedicated proponent of gender inclusion both within Oyo State and nationally.

“For years, our men have fulfilled their roles in representing Lagelu, and we genuinely appreciate their contributions to the state. However, it is now time to provide women with the opportunity to serve, bringing fresh perspectives to governance,” RAD asserted.

She urged the party to implement special provisions for female candidates, positing that real inclusion necessitates intentional policies and definitive actions.

RAD committed to building upon the successes of her predecessors if granted the party’s nomination, vowing to deliver responsive, community-focused, and inclusive representation.

“I am not starting from ground zero. My plan is to further the progress that has already been established, ensuring that our constituents truly experience the benefits of robust representation through effective legislation and active engagement,” she declared.

In honor of women who have significantly contributed at the grassroots level, RAD acknowledged Chief (Mrs) Wulemot Ibitoye, the General Iya Adinni of Lagelu West, and Iya Aladuke Okewusi for their impactful roles in community development and her inspiration.

She also extended heartfelt greetings to mothers throughout Oyo State and recognized notable women leaders such as First Lady of Oyo State, Engr (Mrs) Tamunominini Makinde FNSE, Yeyeoba Mutiat Ladoja, Distinguished Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and Alhaja Modinat Adedibu, among others.

Her declaration event drew a diverse array of supporters, including key stakeholders, market women leaders, artisans, traders’ unions, students, and members of the Oyo State Women’s Forum, reflecting a solid foundation of grassroots support. This indicates a growing momentum in Oyo State’s political landscape, as gender inclusion prepares to take center stage in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
