In the history of Oyo State, leadership has often been a subject of debate, with governors coming and going, leaving behind promises that barely scratched the surface of real progress.

However, since Governor Seyi Makinde assumed office in May 2019, the narrative has changed dramatically.

Today, the people of Oyo State can proudly say they are witnessing a level of governance and achievement that many once thought impossible.

leadership that mirrors the brilliance, dedication, and record-breaking excellence of Victor Osimhen in football.

Truly, Governor Makinde is the Osimhen of Oyo State.

Governor Makinde’s achievements are nothing short of remarkable.

In just over six years, he has accomplished what many of his predecessors could only dream of.

From education to healthcare, infrastructure to economic growth, security to culture, and welfare to social inclusion, his tenure has been defined by a transformative vision backed by relentless action.

Education, the backbone of any progressive society, has been a top priority of Governor Makinde’s administration.

He introduced free education across public primary and secondary schools, eliminating all levies and fees, a bold move that has empowered thousands of children to pursue learning without financial barriers.

His administration has renovated over 600 classrooms, built 26 model schools, installed boreholes, and improved learning facilities across the state.

Furthermore, tertiary education has witnessed a historic boost with Oyo State’s sole ownership of LAUTECH and the upgrading of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education into a university.

These milestones mark a revolution in human capital development, laying a solid foundation for a generation equipped to lead.

Governor Makinde has also transformed healthcare delivery across Oyo State.

His government has rehabilitated hundreds of primary healthcare centres, equipped hospitals with modern facilities, and recruited over 1,500 healthcare professionals, ensuring quality medical care reaches every community.

Innovative interventions such as PSA oxygen plants, expanded maternal and child healthcare services, and improved health insurance schemes have significantly enhanced healthcare outcomes, reflecting a government that genuinely cares for its people.

From Ibadan’s bustling streets to rural highways, Governor Makinde has redefined infrastructure development.

His administration has constructed and rehabilitated over 335 kilometres of roads, upgraded major urban arteries, and ensured citizens enjoy efficient Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS) for seamless mobility.

Beyond roads, the governor is actively upgrading the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport and modernising urban transport networks, clear signals of Oyo State’s rise as a hub of progress and connectivity.

Governor Makinde has not only strengthened the state’s economy but has also created job opportunities for thousands of youths.

Recent employment exercises conducted through SUBEB, TESCOM, the Civil Service Commission, and the Oyo State House of Assembly Commission have led to the recruitment of hundreds of qualified candidates.

The governor has assured that the newly employed staff will soon be fully documented and integrated, providing stability, income, and career growth for young Oyo State citizens.

A true workers’ governor, Makinde has ensured the prompt payment of salaries and pensions.

Notably, he brought pension payments up to date for the first time in years, restoring dignity and financial security to retirees.

Long-standing pension arrears were cleared, and his administration continues to pay pensions as and when due, making Oyo State a rare example of effective pension administration in Nigeria.

In appreciation, pensioners went beyond words to express their gratitude, they gifted the governor a majestic white horse and pledged their unwavering support ahead of 2027, vowing to follow him wherever he goes.

This unprecedented gesture reflects the deep trust, love, and admiration the people of Oyo State have for their leader.

Safety remains a fundamental right under Governor Makinde’s leadership.

He has strengthened the Amotekun Corps, improved emergency response systems, and equipped security agencies to protect lives and property.

The 615 toll-free emergency line stands as evidence of his commitment to the welfare and security of Oyo State residents.

Beyond infrastructure and welfare, Governor Makinde has nurtured culture, sports, and innovation.

The revitalisation of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, promotion of Yoruba cultural festivals, and commissioning of hybrid power plants underscore his holistic approach to governance.

The comparison to Victor Osimhen is not coincidental.

Just as Osimhen continues to dazzle the world with his brilliance scoring goals, creating chances, and inspiring millions in the ongoing AFCON, Governor Makinde is leading Oyo State to unprecedented victories on every front.

Both men symbolise excellence, dedication, and an unrelenting pursuit of greatness, making the comparison truly fitting.

Governor Seyi Makinde’s tenure is defined by visionary leadership, unmatched dedication, and transformative action.

He has achieved what many before him could not, delivering tangible, measurable, and lasting change that directly improves the lives of millions.

Fearless, innovative, and results-driven, he has earned his rightful comparison to Victor Osimhen, the record-breaking and trailblazing superstar.

As Oyo State continues to grow, prosper, and inspire, one fact remains indisputable: Governor Seyi Makinde is not just a governor; he is a transformative force, the Osimhen of Oyo State, turning vision into reality and promises into achievements.

Oyo State has never seen a leader like him and the people know it, celebrate it, and will continue to benefit from his leadership for generations to come.
