Ibarapa North Council Boss, Akorede Celebrates Academic Excellence Through Essay Competition and “One Day Chairman” Initiative

Yesterday, 15th October 2025, was a remarkable day for students across Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, as the council, under the leadership of Hon. Lateef Akorede, successfully held the grand finale of its Essay Writing Competition at the New Town Hall, Ayete.

The event, organized to promote academic excellence and intellectual development among secondary school students, brought together bright young minds from 18 secondary schools across the local government area.

After a thorough evaluation process, the winners emerged as follows:

🥇 1st Prize – ₦100,000: Olanlere Tumininu – Angel Height College, Ayete

🥈 2nd Prize – ₦70,000: Ogunyemi Michael Ayomide – Maja Academy, Igangan

🥉 3rd Prize – ₦50,000: Oguntoke Qoweeyat – Tapa Community High School, Tapa

The competition formed part of activities marking the first anniversary of Hon. Lateef Akorede’s tenure as Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North. To commemorate the milestone, the Supervisory Councillor for Education, Hon. Simisolu Agbeje, also launched an innovative program tagged “One Day Chairman” — an initiative designed to identify and nurture future leaders within the local government area.

Representing the Chairman at the event, Hon. Bisi Akande, the Vice Chairman, commended all participants for their dedication and brilliance. He emphasized that education remains the cornerstone of meaningful progress and urged students to remain focused and diligent in their academic pursuits.

> “This educational initiative will not only motivate the winners to strive harder but will also inspire their peers to see education as the true path to success, not a scam,” Hon. Akande remarked.

The local government reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting quality education and empowering young people through impactful programs and competitions that foster learning, creativity, and leadership.
