When one considers the life and works of Oloye Benedict Akika, the Aare Agba’Akin Ataiyese Omoluabi Oodua Agbaye and President of the Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF), one is reminded of the words of Scripture: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Chief Akika is not merely a philanthropist by title; he is a man whose love for God has become evident through his service to humanity. His foundation, the Omituntun Benedict Foundation (OBF), has over the years championed projects that cut across education, health, religion, security, and social welfare.

Through supports for GCE/WASSCE/JAMB candidates, donation of school kits, provision of hygienic water and school maintenance, and facilitating admission into tertiary institutions, Akika has consistently invested in the intellectual growth of young people. For him, education is not a privilege but a right that every child deserves.

The OBF has organized free medical outreaches, funded intensive surgeries, and provided healthcare support for those in dire need. These interventions have saved lives and restored hope to many families.

From sponsoring pilgrimages to supporting Ramadan, Easter, and Christmas celebrations, Akika demonstrates his belief that religion must serve as a unifying force. His self-funded construction and renovation of mosques in Akinyele, Lagelu, and Olorunda-Aba, as well as empowerment programs in churches, stand as testimony to his balanced respect for both faiths.

Understanding that security is a foundation for development, Akika personally funded the construction of the Olorunda Divisional Police Headquarters, supported solar-powered installations for security agencies, and donated security gates to communities. These contributions reveal a man who values peace and safety as the bedrock of progress.

From palliatives distribution, road grading, borehole provision, transformers, vocational trainings, to mega empowerment schemes, Akika has continually prioritized the welfare of the less privileged. His actions have touched countless lives, giving dignity to the needy and hope to the hopeless.

Akika’s consistent service to humanity echoes the biblical truth that “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). His faith inspires his works, and his works bear witness to his faith. He exemplifies that true love for God is shown in love for people.

Through the Omituntun Benedict Foundation, Chief Akika has proven that leadership is not measured by titles but by impact. His light keeps shining not for personal glory but for the glory of God and the upliftment of humanity.
