In a commendable drive to uplift his constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, a two-term member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, empowered over 100 youths and women with vital business equipment on Saturday. The initiative, aimed at supporting small-scale entrepreneurs, provided tools and training in soap-making, disinfectant production, and liquid bleach manufacturing.

Equally impactful was the distribution of 150 mobility aids—including tricycle wheelchairs and crutches—to persons with disability across the constituency, a gesture that drew admiration from both the beneficiaries and the dignitaries in attendance.

However, a significant highlight of the event was the instrumental role played by Honorable Wasiu Nurudeen, widely known as Obaaro, whose passionate advocacy and grassroots engagement made a visible difference in the program. As a respected leader and voice for persons with disabilities in Oyo State, Hon. Nurudeen’s efforts in identifying and nominating beneficiaries from various local governments were widely applauded.

While speaking with the newsmen at the event, Hon. Nurudeen did not mince words as he commended Hon. Agboworin for his consistency in delivering meaningful empowerment to the people. “This is what true representation looks like,” he said. “Hon. Agboworin has shown over time that leadership is about impact, not noise. Unlike our senator whose achievements/impacts are not felt, he has continued to show up for the people.”

He went further to call on political stakeholders to consider Hon. Agboworin for higher responsibilities, saying, “A federal rep who could perform this excellently, If given a higher platform, such as the Senate or even the Governorship, there is no doubt that he will exceed expectations.”

Hon. Nurudeen also took time to appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for his inclusive policies and lauded Barrister Ayodele Adekanmbi, Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities, for appointing selfless individuals like himself to ensure equitable distribution of resources. He emphasized the importance of putting capable individuals in positions of influence to truly reach those in need.

Five of the numerous beneficiaries—nominated personally by Hon. Nurudeen—took the stage to express their gratitude. Mohammed Raji (Ibadan North), Kunle Azeez (Saki East), Bimbo Adetunji (Oyo East), and Yakubu Olasunkanmi (Egbeda), among others, thanked Hon. Agboworin for the opportunity and recognized Hon. Nurudeen’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the disadvantaged.

They echoed a collective sentiment: that Hon. Abass Agboworin deserves to be elevated to a higher office where his reach and impact can be further amplified. “He’s a leader who listens, acts, and delivers,” one of them said.

The First Lady of Oyo State, Her Excellency Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Funke Makinde, who presented the empowerment items on behalf of Hon. Agboworin, applauded the lawmaker’s ongoing support for the people. “The turnout today is even more impressive than last year. Thank you, my brother Agboworin, for continuing to touch lives,” she said.

The event drew a crowd of notable dignitaries, including Barr. Muyiwa Makinde, Commissioner for Special Duties; Alhaja Sanni; Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, PDP State Secretary; Hon. Dare Adeleke, PDP Caretaker Chairman of Ekiti State; chairmen of local governments from Ibadan North-East, North, South-West, and North-West; Mrs. Steve-Ogundipe Olayinka, Director of NDE Oyo State; and Barr. Ayodele Adekanmbi, DG of the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disability, Alhaja Wuleemot Ibitoye, and many others.

As Hon. Agboworin continues to set the pace with impactful representation, it is clear that his synergy with community leaders like Hon. Wasiu Nurudeen is yielding tangible results. Together, they are building a constituency that prioritizes empowerment, inclusion, and sustained development.
