Gubernatorial hopeful ahead of the 2027 election, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem has condemned in strong terms the attacks on all journalists and media reporters across the globe.

Adewale while celebrating the reporters across the globe at the commemoration of this year’s day to end impunity for crimes against journalists advocated for press freedom and protection of those in the profession.

The United Nations (UN) have dedicated November 2 as a special day to condemn all attacks against journalists and media workers, the Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

Every year since 2013, the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists (IDEI) has served as a poignant reminder of the Journalists who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

Addressing the newsmen this weekend, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem expressed displeasure on the ways journalists are maltreated, solemn remembrance on all the Journalists who have lost their lives in the pursuit of truth. As we remember all the journalists that have lost their lives in the absolute pursuit of truth, we reiterate our commitment to press freedom, and we raise our voice against the peril of impunity for all crimes committed against Journalists.

First Fakhar Soliheen of Oyo State urged all journalists to be more professional and diplomatic, calling on authorities to take all measures to ensure safety of journalists and hold all responsible to account.

Journalists have been subjected to countless threats ranging from kidnapping, torture and other physical attacks to harassment, particularly in the digital world. This impediment has created a climate of fear for media professionals, impeding the free circulation of information, opinions and ideas for all citizens.
