2027: Odidiomo Takes Grassroots Campaign to Residents, Traders Across Oyo South

The Oyo South Senatorial District candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide Odidiomo, has intensified his grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, taking his campaign directly to residents, traders and business operators across parts of Ibadan.

The latest phase of the campaign featured door-to-door consultations with residents in the Adeoyo axis, as well as engagements with traders and business operators at major commercial centres, including Molete Under-Bridge Market, Bode Market, Adedibu Market and Iwo Road Electronics Market.

The engagements were aimed at strengthening direct interaction with residents and grassroots stakeholders while allowing the APM candidate to listen to concerns affecting communities, businesses and livelihoods across the senatorial district.

At the various markets, Odidiomo held discussions with traders and other operators on issues relating to infrastructure, economic activities, basic amenities and community development.

At the Iwo Road Electronics Market, where he met with members of the traders’ association, discussions focused particularly on challenges relating to electricity and water supply. During the engagement, Odidiomo announced a ₦5 million support package for the association and also consented to the traders’ request for the provision of a borehole.

The grassroots engagements also provided an opportunity for the APM candidate to present key aspects of his proposed development agenda for Oyo South Senatorial District.

The agenda, as presented by Odidiomo, focuses on education and skills development, agriculture, healthcare, technology, employment and infrastructure, alongside targeted interventions designed to support communities and local economic activities.

Among the proposals is the establishment of an ICT hub in each of the nine local government areas within the senatorial district, as well as an agriculture empowerment and value-chain development programme for Ibarapa.

Odidiomo also outlined plans to facilitate the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre for the district, while proposing the “Light Up Oyo South” initiative.

Under the proposed initiative, he said 100 street-light poles would be installed in each of the 99 wards across Oyo South Senatorial District, amounting to a total of 9,900 poles.

The ongoing grassroots engagements are expected to continue across different communities and stakeholder groups within the senatorial district as the 2027 election approaches.
