Media Office of Senator Solomon Adeola (CON), popularly known as Yayi, has issued an urgent public disclaimer warning citizens against a fraudulent online syndicate using the lawmaker’s identity to scam unsuspecting victims.
The red alert, released on Thursday, revealed that cyber criminals have designed a deceptive digital scheme promising fake financial cash grants to the public.
According to the official statement signed by the Media Adviser to the federal lawmaker, Chief Kayode Odunaro,
the scammers are enticing people on various social media platforms with false promises of receiving cash payouts valued at N20,000 or N30,000.
Senator Adeola, who serves as the prominent Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and is the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the upcoming 2027 Ogun State election, categorically dissociated his office from the purported exercise.

“For the record, the Senator is not engaged in any such scheme,” Odunaro stated. “Fraudsters are merely cashing in on his popularity and established penchant for various kinds of empowerment and grants over the years.”
The media office emphasised that while Senator Adeola is widely recognised across Ogun State and Nigeria for his extensive history of philanthropic interventions and genuine empowerment projects, he does not distribute public funds through unverified internet web links.
The statement detailed that the federal lawmaker maintains highly structured, official administrative channels when selecting the valid beneficiaries of his empowerment programmes.
Crucially, the statement warned that the lawmaker’s office will never request members of the public to supply sensitive financial data or personal identification details through digital links scattered across social media networks.
Members of the general public have been strictly advised to remain highly vigilant and ignore these fraudulent offers to avoid compromising their personal information.
The statement added a strong caveat that Senator Adeola will not be held liable or responsible for any financial losses, data breaches or damage resulting from disclosures made on these unauthorised third-party platforms.
Chief Odunaro, who also serves as the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Ogun APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, urged citizens to protect themselves from tech-savvy syndicates.
He stressed that these opportunistic scammers are actively on the prowl, aiming to exploit the high political profile and popular grassroots appeal of the APC governorship flag bearer in Ogun State to perpetrate financial fraud.
