The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Lateef Adebare Lawal (Akorede), has congratulated Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
In a congratulatory message made available to Ayete Info on Thursday, Akorede described the appointment of the Igbo-Ora-born professor as a historic milestone and a source of great pride for the entire Ibarapa nation.
The Allied Peoples Movement Candidate for Ibarapa North/Central State Constituency noted that the elevation of Professor Olapegba to lead Nigeria’s premier university is a testament to the brilliance, discipline and excellence that Ibarapa people are known for.
The Council Boss said the University of Ibadan, being one of the most respected universities in Africa, deserves visionary leadership, and he expressed full confidence that Professor Olapegba has the academic pedigree and administrative experience to take the institution to greater heights.

Akorede also pointed out that this was coming shortly after another proud moment for Ibarapa, with an indigene emerging as the Head of Service of Oyo State. According to him, these achievements show that Ibarapa is steadily asserting itself in key leadership positions across the country.
He urged youths in Ibarapa Land to see this appointment as motivation to pursue knowledge, excellence and service to humanity, adding that no background is too small to produce greatness.
The Chairman called on all sons and daughters of Ibarapa, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally support for the new Vice-Chancellor through prayers, encouragement and collaboration.
