The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development under the visionary leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, has announced a series of activities marking the transition from the 2nd Assembly to the 3rd Assembly of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, following the approval of the reconstitution of the parliament by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde.

In a statement released and made available to newsmen by the Head of Media Unit of the Agency for Youth Chairman, Opeyemi Rasheed Socrates, the Agency disclosed that the governor’s approval underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to youth inclusion, leadership development, and active participation in governance.

The Oyo State Youth Parliament, a non-partisan legislative simulation platform, serves as a replica of the Oyo State House of Assembly, with membership drawn from the 32 state constituencies. The parliament comprises young people between the ages of 15 and 29 and is designed to provide a platform for constructive engagement on issues affecting youths and the development of the state.

According to the Agency, the initiative is aimed at equipping young people with the requisite leadership skills and practical knowledge needed to participate effectively in democratic governance and decision-making processes. It also seeks to deepen their understanding of legislative procedures while fostering responsible citizenship and civic engagement.

The Agency further revealed that the newly selected 32 Honourable Members representing the 3rd Assembly are set to commence their legislative journey through a structured induction programme ahead of their formal inauguration.

The valedictory ceremony will provide an opportunity to celebrate the contributions and achievements of members of the outgoing 2nd Assembly, whose tenure was characterized by advocacy, youth engagement, and legislative simulations aimed at advancing the interests of young people across the state.

Similarly, the inauguration of the 3rd Assembly will usher in a new generation of youth leaders expected to contribute innovative ideas and perspectives toward the development of Oyo State and the advancement of youth-focused policies.

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development reiterated its commitment to nurturing future leaders and creating opportunities that empower young people to contribute meaningfully to governance, policy formulation, and sustainable development.

Stakeholders, government officials, youth leaders, development partners, and members of the public are expected to grace the ceremonies as the state celebrates another milestone in its drive to strengthen youth participation in democratic governance.
