In a significant move to improve healthcare outcomes for pregnant women in Oyo State, Hon. Babalola Abiodun, Chairman of the House Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, launched a groundbreaking initiative on March 17, 2025. The program, sponsored by Evidence Action, aims to enhance anaemia testing rates among expectant mothers in the state.

The event, attended by prominent stakeholders, including Dr. (Mrs.) Ajetunmobi, Hon. Commissioner for Health, and three Permanent Secretaries from key ministries, marked a crucial step towards addressing anaemia-related challenges in Oyo State.

As part of the initiative, Evidence Action donated vital medical equipment, including Haemoglobinometer devices and microcuvettes, to support the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

This donation is expected to significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of anaemia testing, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for pregnant women in the state.

Hon. Babalola Abiodun’s efforts to launch this initiative demonstrate his commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of Oyo State’s citizens, particularly vulnerable populations like pregnant women.
