The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has been honoured with the Distinguished Support for Education Award by Lead City University.

The award was in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of education and youth development, particularly at the grassroots.

The award was presented on Tuesday at the institution’s campus in Ibadan by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Kabiru Aderemi, who commended the council boss for his commitment to initiatives that promote learning opportunities and educational development at the grassroots.

Aderemi noted that Olatunji’s consistent support for programmes aimed at improving access to education and empowering young people informed the university’s decision to honour him.

He explained that the institution remains committed to acknowledging public office holders and stakeholders whose interventions have made meaningful impact in the education sector.

In his remarks after receiving the award, Olatunji expressed appreciation to the management of Lead City University for the recognition, describing the honour as a motivation to intensify efforts towards strengthening educational development within the local government.

The Oluyole council chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and initiatives that would encourage academic excellence, youth empowerment and community development.

He stressed that his administration remains focused on implementing policies, programs, and initiatives in line with the vision of governor Seyi Makinde to bring government closer to the people at the grassroots.

He also assured that his administration will continue to foster collaboration and deepen cooperation with development partners to drive what he described as the Oluyole socioeconomic development agenda.

He stressed that education remains a critical pillar for sustainable growth as exemplified by governor Makinde, and urged stakeholders at all levels to continue investing in the sector.

The event was attended by several political leaders and government officials, including the Chairmen of Akinyele Local Government Area, Hon. Wole Akinleye, and the Ibadan North Local Government Area, Hon. Seun Olufade, among others.
