The Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State has expelled five members of the party over anti-party activities, insubordination and actions considered inimical to the unity and progress of the party.

The affected members are Mr Bolarinwa Olubodun and Mrs Alimot Makinde, both from Ward 02, as well as Mr Mustapha Kazeem, Mr Fatai Akano and Mr Remi Bakare, all from Ward 07.

The decision followed the submission and consideration of a report by the party’s Disciplinary Committee, which investigated allegations levelled against the five members.

According to a communiqué issued by the Oluyole Local Government chapter of the party on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the disciplinary committee found the affected members guilty of several offences, including what it described as “high-level insubordination” to the authority of the party and its leader, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

The communiqué, signed by the Oluyole APM Party Chairman, Hon. Nasir Hamzat, and Party Secretary, Hon. (Mrs.) Folasade Idowu, was addressed to the State Chairman of the party in Oyo State.

The committee also cited disregard for the party’s internal resolution mechanisms, alleged anti-party activities, open rapport with opposition elements, declarations of working against the party and its candidates, spreading of what it described as malicious information against the party and its leaders, as well as attempts to cause division among party members.

The recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee were subsequently accepted and adopted by the leadership of the party in Oluyole Local Government.

The party leaders who adopted the resolution included the Oluyole Local Government Council Chairman, Engr. Akeem Olatunji; the Commissioner for Works, Transport and Public Infrastructure, Arc. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola; the party’s Overall Leader, Dr Gbola Adetunji; the Oluyole Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Nasir Hamzat; as well as party executives, leaders and other stakeholders.

Consequently, the party resolved that the five members be expelled from the APM and directed them to immediately surrender any party materials in their possession to their respective ward chairmen.

They were also directed to cease from acting or representing themselves as members or representatives of the APM, including the use of the party’s logo or other forms of identification.

The party further resolved that legal action should be taken against any of the expelled members found making fraudulent claims of association with the APM with effect from Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The affected ward chairmen were equally directed to immediately ensure the enforcement of the local government resolution within their respective wards.

The Oluyole APM leadership, while adopting the disciplinary measures, pledged its total allegiance and loyalty to Governor Makinde, describing him as the leader of the party in the state and the entire South West.

The party executives, leaders and stakeholders also declared their full alignment with the governor’s decisions and expressed confidence in his leadership, particularly in respect of the chairmanship candidates selected for the forthcoming local government elections.

They said their position was informed by the need to preserve and deepen party discipline, unity and cohesion ahead of the elections, while stressing the importance of loyalty to the party’s leadership and respect for decisions reached through its established internal mechanisms.

The local government chapter also mandated its chairman and secretary to formally communicate the resolution to the state executive of the party through the office of the State Chairman for further necessary action.

The development comes as political activities intensify across Oyo State ahead of the forthcoming local government elections, with parties increasingly tightening their structures and demanding greater commitment from members and candidates.
