The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) senatorial candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, has taken his 2027 campaign agenda to grassroots community leaders in Ido and Ibarapa-East Local Government Areas, unveiling a proposed “Social Pact” focused on education, agriculture, healthcare, technology, employment and infrastructure development.
Odidiomo made the declaration on Thursday during an interactive session with members of the Community Development Councils (CDCs) of Ido and Ibarapa-East at their general meeting.
He said he attended the meeting to establish what he described as a development agreement with the communities, explaining that his proposed representation would be built around direct partnership with grassroots structures.
Presenting his agenda, the APM candidate outlined a five-component Oyo South Education and Skills Empowerment Programme comprising student scholarships, youth technical and vocational education and training (TVET), digital and artificial intelligence training for teachers, ICT and science laboratory interventions, as well as technology and entrepreneurship grants.
According to him, the programme is designed to equip young people with practical skills and educational opportunities to prepare them for an economy increasingly driven by technology, skills and innovation.
Agriculture, he said, would also occupy a central position in his development agenda for Ibarapa through the proposed Ibarapa Agriculture Empowerment and Value Chain Programme.
Odidiomo said the initiative would provide support for youth agripreneurs and smallholder farmers, establish an agricultural equipment bank and an Ibarapa agro-processing hub, while introducing solar irrigation, farmers’ cooperatives, market-linkage mechanisms and an Agricultural Financing Desk.
He explained that the objective would be to strengthen the agricultural value chain by improving farmers’ access to equipment, financing, irrigation, processing facilities and markets.
On healthcare, Odidiomo promised to facilitate the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre for Oyo South Senatorial District.
He cited federal medical centres and other federal tertiary healthcare institutions in neighbouring states, including Ikole-Ekiti, Ebute-Metta and Epe in Lagos State, Abeokuta in Ogun State and Owo in Ondo State, as examples of institutions serving their respective communities.
The APM candidate also proposed the establishment of an ICT hub in each of the nine local government areas within Oyo South.
He described the proposed hubs as centres for digital-skills development, technology training, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment.
Odidiomo further unveiled his proposed “Light Up Oyo South Senatorial District” initiative, under which he promised the installation of 100 street-light poles in each of the 99 wards across the nine local government areas.
The proposal, he said, would amount to 9,900 street-light poles across Oyo South.
He said the initiative was intended to improve community security, extend productive hours and support commercial activities across the senatorial district.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Community Development Council, Ido Local Government, Alhaji Ola Lasisi Bello, acknowledged what he described as Odidiomo’s philanthropic contributions to the sustenance of CDC structures across Oyo South.
Bello said Odidiomo’s interventions in the communities predated his emergence as the APM senatorial candidate.
He described Odidiomo as a politician who had empowered thousands of Oyo indigenes through various initiatives and urged stakeholders to support his development vision.
The stakeholders’ meeting attracted political and community leaders, including the Oyo State Governor’s representative, Hon. Akano Matthew, Special Adviser on Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency; the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo; the Council Secretary, Hon. Kamorudeen Gbadamosi; Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe; and the Chief Imam of Ansarudeen Mosque, Omi-Adio.
Others included the CDC Chairman, Ido Local Government, Engr. L.T. Salaudeen; CDC Chairman, Ibarapa East Local Government, Alhaji Ola Lasisi Bello; APM chairmanship candidate for Ido Local Government, Barrister Fasina Olayemi, and his running mate, Ibrahim Do Jango.
Also present were Hon. Wasiu Emiola Emma, APM Chairman in Ido Local Government; Chief J.T.O. Somite, Chairman of the Ologuneru Leaders Forum; and other political and community stakeholders.
