Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the political landscape in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State is witnessing a major shift as a grassroots mobilizer and former Councillor for Ward 8, Chief Adeyemo Abass, popularly known as Adebass, has pledged his total support and loyalty to the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde for the continuation of good governance in the state.
Chief Abass, who recently tendered his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the declaration during a high-level strategic meeting with one of Governor Makinde’s most trusted political allies, Otunba Seye Famojuro, held in Ibadan, the state capital.
According to sources at the meeting, the former council legislator said his decision to align with the Makinde-led government was borne out of personal conviction, careful observation of the current political realities and the visible transformation being witnessed across Oyo State.
Speaking shortly after the meeting, Chief Abass said the gathering was to formally declare his readiness and unwavering commitment to work assiduously for the success of all candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the forthcoming general elections.

He explained that he was particularly convinced by the people-oriented programmes, inclusive governance style and outstanding performance of the Makinde-led administration, which he noted has brought unprecedented infrastructural and human capital development to every zone of the state.
“I have watched closely and I am convinced that Governor Seyi Makinde means well for Oyo State. His achievements in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and workers’ welfare speak for themselves. This is the kind of good governance we must sustain beyond 2027,” Adebass stated.
Chief Adeyemo also used the occasion to reiterate his commitment to ensure the actualization and continuation of Omituntun 3.0 agenda under Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, who is widely seen as the torchbearer to sustain the legacy of the current administration for the advancement and sustainable development of Oyo State.
He described Hon. Adekanmbi as a loyal, competent and tested party man with the capacity to consolidate on the gains already recorded and take the state to greater heights.
While calling on his teeming supporters, loyalists and political associates across Ward 8, Akinyele Local Government and Oyo State at large to rally behind Governor Seyi Makinde and align with the APM, Chief Abass maintained that the APM remains the party with the vision, structure and capacity to move the state forward.
He assured that with his defection, more grassroots politicians and stakeholders who believe in the Omituntun ideology would soon join the moving train of the APM.
Political observers are of the opinion that the defection of Chief Adeyemo Abass, known for his strong grassroots network in Akinyele, is a major boost for the APM ahead of the 2027 polls.
