The Oyo South senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) and member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide Odidiomo, has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the abandoned bridge linking Ring Road, Elewura and Orita Challenge areas of Ibadan.
The inspection was aimed at obtaining first-hand information on the condition of the bridge and adjoining road network, while also assessing the difficulties its abandonment has created for residents, motorists, traders and other road users.
During the visit, Hon. Olajide interacted with residents and other users of the route to understand the challenges they face as a result of the deteriorating infrastructure. He stressed that effective representation requires elected officials to physically inspect critical infrastructure and understand its direct impact on the people.
The abandoned bridge serves as an important link between Ring Road, Elewura, Orita Challenge and surrounding commercial and residential communities. Its current condition has raised concerns among residents and road users who depend on the route for the movement of people, goods and services.

The two-term federal lawmaker noted that infrastructure with significant implications for the daily lives and economic activities of residents should not be allowed to deteriorate without appropriate intervention.
According to him, the assessment would provide a clearer understanding of the scope of work required and the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the project, thereby enabling meaningful engagement with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
Hon. Olajide assured residents that the findings from the inspection would form the basis for further engagements aimed at exploring possible avenues for intervention.
He emphasized that the bridge is more than just a physical structure, describing it as a vital component of the area’s transportation network. He noted that restoring the infrastructure would improve mobility, reduce pressure on alternative routes and contribute positively to local economic activities.
The lawmaker further assured residents that he would explore every available avenue to facilitate the rehabilitation of the bridge, promising sustained engagement with the relevant authorities and stakeholders until a practical solution is achieved.
He reiterated his commitment to responsive representation and ensuring that critical infrastructure affecting the welfare and economic activities of constituents receives the necessary attention.
