The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, has announced the donation of 1,000 solar-powered streetlights for communities across Ibarapaland, Oyo State.
Odidiomo announced the initiative on Saturday during the APM Ibarapa zonal reconciliation and strategy meeting held in Ibarapaland. He said the project was designed to improve nighttime security, support commercial activities and illuminate public spaces across the region.
The high-level political meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal; the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi; and other party leaders and grassroots stakeholders.
Addressing party members and community leaders, Odidiomo disclosed that the 1,000 solar-powered streetlights would be distributed across the three local government areas in Ibarapaland: Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.

Beyond the streetlight initiative, the federal lawmaker also pledged to provide motorised boreholes to address water shortages and grade critical rural roads linking farming communities to markets.
He said the proposed interventions would complement the infrastructural efforts of the Oyo State Government, adding that his legislative agenda would focus on practical projects capable of improving the lives of residents.
Odidiomo reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his campaign promises if elected to the Senate in 2027, stressing the importance of community-focused development over political rhetoric.
Taking aim at opposition politicians, the APM candidate urged residents of Ibarapaland to scrutinise the records of public officeholders and demand accountability for the resources entrusted to them.
He criticised politicians who, according to him, distribute money during election periods without providing tangible development projects or demonstrating meaningful federal-level interventions in their constituencies.
“It is your money; collect it from them. They have done nothing tangible for you in the past few years than spending money up and down without projects or anything concrete to show for it at the federal level,” he said.
The meeting ended with APM leaders expressing their commitment to mobilising supporters across the nine local government areas of Oyo South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The leaders said their mobilisation efforts would focus on promoting the party’s candidates across the senatorial district.
