The Oba Yoruba of Kano, His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr. Muritala Alimi Otisese Asetimirin 1 has commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for embarking on massive infrastructural development since assumption of office.
Oba Engr. Muritala Alimi gave the commendation during his courtesy visit to the Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige in his office at Secretariat, Ibadan.
According to him ” the administration of Seyi Makinde is very fantastic, I’m very impressed, he has been doing marvelously well. Even when I was coming I saw a lot of changes in terms of roads construction . Even this office complex, Local Government House and Staff Training School which is unprecedented. Also, he got approval for upgrading of Ibadan airport to international airport and has set machinery in motion for its execution immediately. It happens during his term. He has a good mind and good intentions. The other time he commissioned a very big mosque, a beautiful one as if you are in Saudi Arabia. Sultan and I attended . This is highly commendable.
Oba Murtala Alimi who has just been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of Yoruba traditional Obas in the 19 northern states including the federal capital territory, Abuja, also used the medium to congratulate the governor on his forthcoming 57th birthday on Wednesday, 25th December, 2024 promised to come back to Ibadan to celebrate with Governor Makinde because of his goodwill and the way he has been performing.
The traditional ruler also advised political office holders to emulate Governor Seyi Makinde’s selfless service to the people and stop pursuing personal or selfish interests while in office. “I am fully in his support and pray that it shall be well with him.”. He said.
He then appreciated the Governor for appointing Hon Akeem Ademola Ige as the Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board. Describing his appointment as a round peg in a round hole.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman Local Government Staff Pension Board Hon Akeem Ademola Ige thanked Oba Yoruba of Kano for the visit. He described him as a true son of Ibadanland who hailed from Koromodi family, Idi Arere, Ibadan , a business mongul, a philanthropist of good repute.
Hon Ige then briefly highlighted some of the achievements of Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde in terms of pensioners’ welfare which include regular payment of gratuity and monthly pension, increase in the monthly allocation of the Board from Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira to Five Hundred Million Naira, Fifteen Thousand Naira wage award to all pensioners and many more.
Oba Engr. Muritala Alimi was accompanied by General Ogunlade (rtd) and Alhaji Kazeem Omotayo Akande while the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Ahaji Lukman Akinola was in attendance at the visit.
