The Oyo State Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Arc. Mogbonjubola Olawale, popularly known as Jagaban, has been honoured with the Public Service Award at the MAYA Africa Awards 2026.
The award was presented to the Commissioner on Sunday night during the 11th edition of the prestigious MAYA Africa Awards held in Ibadan. The event brought together business leaders, public servants, captains of industry, and notable personalities across entertainment and other sectors who have made significant contributions to national development.
Arc. Mogbonjubola was recognized for his outstanding service in infrastructure delivery, road rehabilitation, and transport sector reforms in Oyo State under the Omituntun administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Colleagues and stakeholders described the award as well deserved, noting his commitment to turning around the state’s public works and transport infrastructure across the 33 local governments.
Speaking after receiving the award, the Commissioner dedicated it to Governor Seyi Makinde, the people of Oyo State, and the entire staff of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. He said the recognition would further spur him to do more in delivering quality roads and a functional transport system for residents.
“I am grateful to MAYA Africa for this recognition. This award belongs to the good people of Oyo State and to Governor Seyi Makinde whose vision and support have made our work possible. We will continue to serve with integrity and diligence,” he said.
The MAYA Awards 2026, now in its 11th year, also recognized several business moguls, outstanding public servants, and notable personalities who have distinguished themselves in entertainment, philanthropy, and other sectors of society.
The night featured tributes to excellence, innovation, and service, with organizers saying the awards remain committed to celebrating Africans who are driving impact in their communities.
The event was attended by dignitaries from government, business, media, and the entertainment industry.
