Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, on his 58th birthday, describing him as a leader with uncommon and exemplary leadership qualities.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, December 25, 2025, through his spokesperson, Hassan Adesodi Olaoniye, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Hon. Adepoju stated that Gov. Makinde’s administration has recorded significant achievements across critical sectors of the state, thereby positioning Oyo as one of the most attractive destinations for investment and improved living standards in Nigeria.
The Ibarapa-born politician cum technocrat described Makinde as a thoroughbred democrat whose style of governance is guided by transparency, accountability and the ideals of a democratic society.
According to him, Makinde’s efforts in defending Nigeria’s democratic system at this critical moment in the nation’s history, even as forces remain determined to push the country towards a one-party state, are courageous, principled and deserving of national commendation.
He said that Makinde has consistently demonstrated rare leadership qualities in public service, noting that his empathy and people-centred approach to governance continue to distinguish him as a leader of substance.
Ibarapakan also commended Makinde’s mentorship, which he said had played a significant role in shaping his political career, giving him not just support but the wings to soar and to make greater impact on his constituency as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives.
The lawmaker emphasised that there is no doubt that Governor Makinde has excelled in both business and governance, embodying the values required for effective leadership at any echelon. He reiterated that the governor has continued to lay a solid foundation for a progressive and prosperous Oyo State, a legacy he enjoined the people of the Pacesetter State to protect jealously.
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character also described Makinde’s footprints in Oyo State in the last six years as visible, far-reaching and impactful across key sectors of the state’s development.
He, however, prayed for the governor’s continued good health, wisdom and strength to overcome challenges, sustain his developmental strides and uphold the legacy of a true democratic society bequeathed to Nigerians by the nation’s founding fathers.
