The senatorial ambition of Kolapo Kola-Daisi for the Oyo South seat in the 2027 general elections continues to gather strong momentum, following his recent declaration and a series of strategic engagements with party leaders and stakeholders across the district.

Kola-Daisi, who previously contested the seat in the 2023 general elections, has in recent days intensified his consultations, meeting with respected leaders across multiple local government areas in Ibadan and beyond. The engagements, described by party insiders as “widely embraced,” have reinforced his growing acceptance across the zone.

During his ongoing visits, leaders across Ibadan LGAs expressed distinctive confidence in Kola-Daisi’s candidacy, noting his consistency, accessibility, and commitment to the people even outside of election cycles. Several stakeholders pointed out that, despite not securing the party ticket in 2023 under controversial circumstances, he remained actively engaged with communities and continued to support party structures across the district.

“We will not miss this opportunity twice,” one of the leaders said during an interaction in Ibadan, reflecting a shared sentiment among party faithful. “He has stayed with the people, and the people are ready to stay with him.”

The wave of support extended to the Ibarapa zone, where Kola-Daisi met with leaders of the G9. At the meeting, the leaders highlighted the urgent need for focused representation capable of addressing the longstanding infrastructural challenges facing the zone.

According to the leaders, years of representation at the centre have not translated into the level of development expected in Ibarapa, particularly in critical areas such as road infrastructure and economic connectivity. They expressed optimism that Kola-Daisi’s emergence would signal a shift towards more responsive and impactful representation.

“Our zone has experienced years of neglect, especially in terms of infrastructure, despite years of voting representatives to the centre” a leader within the caucus noted. “You can see our road, and can you see electricity anywhere?”, he enthused.

“What we need now is a leadership that understands the urgency and is committed to delivering real change through impactful presence at the centre. We believe that you, Kolapo Kola-Daisi, represents that opportunity, and you’ve proved it countless times because you did not abandon us since 2023 till date”, he concluded.

Observers within the party and the the centre note that Kola-Daisi’s approach, anchored on sustained engagement, grassroots connection, and a track record of standing with the people, has positioned him as a strong contender ahead of the party’s internal processes.

With consultations ongoing and support steadily consolidating across Oyo South, his declaration is already being viewed in many quarters as more than an expression of intent, but the continuation of a political journey backed by structure, goodwill, and growing consensus.
