Ibarapa North Chairman, Akorede Congratulates PG on Emergence as Chairmanship Candidate, Calls for Unity Among APM Members 

The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) House of Assembly candidate for Ibarapa North/Ibarapa Central State Constituency, Hon. Lateef Adebare Lawal (Akorede), has congratulated Hon. Peter Gbadegesin Ojedokun (PG) on his emergence as the party’s chairmanship candidate for the forthcoming local government election.

Akorede’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement signed by himself and made available to newsmen on Thursday.

Congratulating Ojedokun, Akorede described his emergence as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the leadership and members of the party.

“I heartily congratulate Hon. Peter Ojedokun, Member representing Ibarapa North/Ibarapa Central State Constituency, on his emergence as the APM Chairmanship Candidate for Ibarapa North.

“His victory, with a resounding mandate from party members across Ibarapa North, is a clear reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in his leadership, vision, and capacity to deliver,” he said.

Akorede, however, urged Ojedokun, who is the current House of Assembly member representing Ibarapa Central/North state constituency, to move swiftly to reunite the party by reaching out to other aspirants and stakeholders following the contest that preceded his emergence.

“I urge Hon. Ojedokun to set aside the differences and intrigues that preceded your emergence as the APM Ibarapa North Chairmanship Candidate by extending a hand of fellowship to your co-contestants and to all aggrieved stakeholders of our party in Ibarapa North,” he said.

Akorede called on other aspirants to work together with the eventual winner of the ticket in the interest of, according to him, the local government and the party.

“As we move forward, I also urge all aspirants most especially Hon. Bisi Akande and Hon. Rasaki Sefiu Tunji and their supporters to close ranks and work together in unity. The APM remains one family, and our collective success depends on our ability to stand together.

“I understand how deeply it hurts not to be picked as a candidate by the party. Please know that this is not the end of your political journey. Politics is full of ups and downs, and one setback does not define your future. I encourage you not to relent. Stay committed, keep serving the people, and trust that a better opportunity will come.

Drawing from his personal experience, Akorede recalled that he was once denied the ticket in 2019 but remained steadfast before eventually securing the ticket in 2021.

“I say this from personal experience. In 2019, a similar thing happened to me. I was not picked, but I did not give up. I remained focused, and in 2021 I contested again. By God’s grace, my aspiration was fruitful. That is politics. Your time will come too,” he added.
