The League of Imams and Alfas, in collaboration with the Muslim community in Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, hosted a grand Turbaning and Award Ceremony at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, on Saturday, September 6, drawing dignitaries from politics, religion, and community leadership.

Turbanees were Alhaji Dawood Olalere D-Al-Ameen, Alhaji M.K.O Olaoye, Alhaja Alabi Omoriyeba and Oba Hakeem Adewoyin (Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland) as Awardee which the event under the chairmanship of Alhaji (Barr) Akeem Agbaje.

In his goodwill message at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, Alhaji Rahman Adepoju, lauded the efforts of the League in fostering peace, harmony, and unity across Wards 1 to 11 of the council area. He emphasized that the existence of such unity, both religiously and politically, is a reflection of the leadership style of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE.

Adepoju noted that the formation of the League was a product of commitment and dedication to religious tolerance, stressing that Governor Makinde, despite being a Christian, has done much to support the Muslim community in Oyo State.

“Though Governor Seyi Makinde is a Christian, he has done more to strengthen the Muslim faith and uphold religious tolerance,” Adepoju remarked. “When I became the chairman, I wished for the same unity in Ibadan NorthWest. Because this has never happened in the local government before, so I called our Babas, and today I am happy that the unity is still strong.”

He further charged the Alfas and Imams to continue upholding the pillars of Islam and to sustain the bond of unity that the League represents.

Presence with the chairman were Personal Assistant to Governor, Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Oyo State PDP Secretary Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Vice Chairman Hon Ganiy Omotosho, the Chief of Staff to the Chairman Hon Kazeem Fantola, Secretary of Ibadan NorthWest LG, Secretary of Oke’badan LCDA, Councillors, Supervisory Councillors, Special Assistants among others.
