The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed his condolences to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over the passing of his brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde.
Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, who represented the speaker as well as led a delegation of the House of Representatives Caucus from Oyo State, conveyed the commiseration to the Governor.
He acknowledged the deep pain that comes with losing a loved one and prayed for God’s strength and long life for Governor Makinde as he continues to lead and care for his family and the state.
During the condolence visit, Hon. Adeyemi reassured Oyo State citizens of the House of Representatives’ commitment to facilitating developmental projects that would benefit various constituencies and the state at large.
He emphasized that the progress of Oyo State remains a top priority and praised the robust synergy between the state government and the House of Representatives in driving positive change.
He noted that Governor Makinde has never obstructed any National Assembly-facilitated project in the state, a testament to the harmonious relationship between the Governor, federal lawmakers, and the people of Oyo State.
This, he said, has ensured that developmental projects are delivered efficiently for the benefit of the citizens.
Expressing gratitude for the Governor’s resilience in the face of personal loss, Hon. Adeyemi prayed for divine comfort and fortitude for him and his family.
The Oyo State House of Representatives Caucus members who accompanied Hon. Adeyemi on the condolence visit included: Hon. Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi (Afijo/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West Federal Constituency), Hon. Stanley Adedeji Olajide (Ibadan North West/South West Federal Constituency), and Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola (Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency).
Other House of Reps Cause members from Oyo state on the delegation include Hon. Adebayo Anthony Adepoju (Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency), Hon. Wasiu Akinmoyede Lafioye (Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency), and Hon. Oyeshina Najimdeen Oyedeji (Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency).
Governor Makinde, in his brief remark, appreciated the Speaker for reaching out to him and his family during his period of bereavement. He also appreciated the House of representatives caucus from Oyo state for solidarising with him while emphasizing his commitment to the development of Oyo state.
