Hon. Wale Ajani, the immediate Director General of Oyo State Liaison in Abuja and Lagos, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Engr. Sunday Makinde, the elder brother of Governor Seyi Makinde, who died at 3:20 AM on Friday, January 24, 2025.

The announcement was made by Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, one of the deceased’s younger siblings, who stated, “With a heavy heart, I announce the passage of my older brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde, to eternal glory today.” He confirmed that Engr. Sunday Makinde’s sudden death occurred at his residence in Ibadan.

Engr. Sunday Makinde is remembered for his remarkable contributions to his family and community. He is survived by his siblings, including the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, as well as children and grandchildren.

Hon. Ajani expressed his condolences, stating, “This profound loss is felt not only by the Governor and his family but by the entire Oyo State community. We stand in solidarity with Governor Makinde and the Makinde family during this difficult time.”

  • As the state mourns, thoughts and prayers are with the Makinde family, wishing them comfort and strength. May the soul of Engr. Sunday Makinde rest in eternal peace.
