Former Oyo Head of Service, Ogunesan, brother battle each other for APC ticket

Former Head of Service of Oyo State under the government of Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Senatorial aspirant in the All Progressives Congress(APC), Mrs Hannah Ogunesan and his younger brother , Hon Olajide Olatunbosun,former member of the House of Representatives are locked in a cut throat battle for the ticket of APC in the upcoming primaries of the party.

Mrs Ogunesan is contesting for Oyo North Senatorial tocket while her brother,,Jide, is contesting for the ticket to be candidate in Saki West,Saki East and Atisbo Federal Constituency,which falls within Oyo North Senatorial District.

Both of then went through the screening of the party in Abuja at the weekend setting the pace for a battle of supremacy within the sibblings.

The candidacy of the two had divided their supporters over the past months as they jostled for who between them would win the coverted ticket of the party.It is reasoned that both of them cannot win the ticket they seek as that would automatically set the party up for rejection by the electorate. Party members in Saki West,Saki East and Atisbo Federal Cobstituency openly express same opinion that it is impossible for a sister to run for the Senate while the brother runs for the House of Representatives on the ticket of the same party.

The supporters of the sibblings have therefore been at loggerheads as the scheming for the tickets of the APC continues. Things got so bad that the political structure nurtured by the family over the years have been factionalised into two as members pitched their tent with either of the siblings.

Informed sources said the division between the siblings became obvious in the last congress of the party as they supported rival groups to take control of the party in the federal constituency. It is even alleged that they are supporting each other’s rivals in the contest for the APC tickets knowing full well that the success of one of them is the failure of the other.

In the direct primaries of the APC for the House of Representatives which is coming up on Friday,supporters of Mrs Ogunesan are rooting for the candidature of Dpr Adewoyin against Hon Olatunbosun. Supporters of Jide Olatunbosun on the other hand are said to be supporting Prof Adeolu Akande for the Senatorial election coming up next week against her sister.

The development is said to be causing concerns in the communities in the federal constituency particularly in Ago Amodu where the Olatunbosun family hails from. Impeccable sources disclosed that family elders had intervened unsuccessfully to get either of the two sibbllings to step down for one another.”What is more troubling is that both of them are of the same mother in a polygamous family. It would have been understandable if they are of different mothers.”,a source in Saki noted at the weekend.
