The Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Lateef Lawal, has met with members of the aggrieved faction of the Federation of Ibarapa Students’ Associations (FIBSA) over the crisis that followed the association’s last election.
The meeting, held over the weekend, was convened to address concerns raised during and after the election and to chart a path towards reconciliation.
During the engagement, Hon. Lawal told the aggrieved members that he holds no bias against any faction, stressing that they remain his brothers and sisters.
He explained that his role and actions during the election were not intended to undermine anyone’s efforts or favour any group, but were solely aimed at ensuring peace and preventing the situation from degenerating.
The chairman said he listened to their concerns and also shared his perspective on the events that took place. He urged them to look beyond their disagreements and embrace dialogue, understanding and reconciliation.
He assured the students of his continued support, stating that as chairman, he will always support initiatives and individuals that promote the welfare, unity and progress of Ibarapa students.
According to him, his support is not for any faction, but for the students and the greater good of FIBSA.
Hon. Lawal commended the aggrieved members for coming forward and for the maturity displayed during the meeting, expressing confidence that with genuine understanding and willingness to move forward, the issues can be put behind and the unity FIBSA deserves can be restored.
He added that his door remains open to all members and called on stakeholders to work together, irrespective of their differences, to ensure that peace, unity and the interests of Ibarapa students remain paramount.
