Dateline: IBADAN, OYO STATE – April 10, 2026

Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, widely known as OTOPE, has extended his profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the entire leadership structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for what he described as a “model of internal democracy and transparency” following his emergence as the consensus candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

In a formal statement issued on Friday, Dr. Oladimeji noted that the seamless and consultative process which led to his adoption reflects the maturity and visionary leadership that Governor Makinde has consistently brought to bear on the party’s affairs in Oyo State.

“I wish to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to our amiable Governor, His Excellency Seyi Makinde, and the esteemed elders and executives of our great party, the PDP,” Dr. Oladimeji stated. “The transparent and inclusive manner in which this consensus was achieved is a testament to the governor’s unwavering commitment to fairness, unity, and the collective strength of our party. It is a process that has strengthened our resolve and solidified our ranks as we march toward 2027.”

The Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency ticket is widely regarded as one of the most strategic in Oyo State, and the consensus arrangement is expected to significantly reduce pre-primary friction while consolidating the party’s grassroots support across the 22 wards of the constituency.

Dr. Oladimeji, who also serves as the President of the OTOPE Foundation, further assured the party leadership that this mandate would be met with an unwavering dedication to service and an inclusive campaign that prioritizes the aspirations of the people.

“This is not a victory for an individual; it is a victory for the democratic process within the PDP,” OTOPE added. “I am humbled by the confidence reposed in me by His Excellency and the party leadership. I accept this responsibility with a pledge to carry every stakeholder along, to work tirelessly for the people of Egbeda and Ona-Ara, and to ensure that our party emerges stronger and victorious in 2027.”

The statement concluded with a call for continued unity among party faithful across the eleven wards of Ona-Ara and the eleven wards of Egbeda Local Government.

Signed:
Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji (OTOPE)
PDP Consensus Candidate for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency
