In response to the recent cholera outbreak in Nigeria, the Director of Environmental Health in Egbeda Local Government, Mrs. Victoria Baale, has embarked on a sensitization campaign to educate residents on how to protect themselves from contracting the disease.

Speaking on behalf of the executive chairman, Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, Mrs. Baale urged inhabitants of Egbeda LG to prioritize personal hygiene and take necessary precautions to avoid the spread of cholera. “Personal, adequate, and constant hygiene is key to avoiding this inflammatory disease that can kill its victims within 72 hours,” she emphasized.

Mrs. Baale advised residents to avoid consuming foods, snacks, water, and drinks from unknown sources and to refrain from eating outside meals for the moment. She also encouraged the community to maintain proper hygiene practices, such as washing hands regularly and ensuring proper disposal of waste.

The sensitization campaign aims to raise awareness and promote preventive measures to contain the spread of cholera in Egbeda Local Government. By working together, the community can reduce the risk of cholera and ensure a healthier and safer environment for all.
