Vice President Kashim Shettima has taken swift action to address the recent increase in petrol prices, convening an emergency meeting with key government officials at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
The meeting, aimed at finding solutions to the price hike, brought together Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
The urgent gathering comes on the heels of NNPCL’s announcement on Tuesday of a petrol price increase, with prices now ranging from ₦855 to ₦897 per litre depending on location.
The move has sparked widespread concern among Nigerians, who are already grappling with economic challenges.
By summoning this emergency meeting, Vice President Shettima demonstrates his commitment to addressing the plight of Nigerians and finding ways to mitigate the impact of the price hike. The outcome of the meeting is eagerly awaited, as the nation hopes for a swift resolution to the crisis.
