The alumni association of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has inaugurated a scholarship board to assist indigent undergraduates of the institution.

In a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. O.J. Babalola, the association’s Global President, Hon. Olalekan Badmus, stated that the scholarship is in accordance with the Alumni constitution, which he will chair along with Prof. O.S. Bello serving as secretary and nine other members who were inaugurated on Tuesday.

According to Badmus, the scholarship will be funded by members of the association as well as private individuals who have broken glass ceilings in the various professions and callings.

The Global president who disclosed that the association would continue to use the dedicated account of his predecessor for the project, assured that the committee would ensure the process is transparent so that people who deserve it gets it.

He, however, urged LAUTECH undergraduates from 300-600 level who were having difficulties paying their school fees to approach the committee set up for the purpose as soon as possible.

The President said: “Our mission is to empower LAUTECH undergraduate students (300 to 600 level) to invent new opportunities for themselves and their societies both socially and economically.

“Our objectives transcend politics. We have built coalition of progressive minded people who can effect positive change at home and help alleviate the suffering of LAUTECH undergraduate students. We implore you to join us in fulfilling this mission, together we will make positive changes that will affect generations yet unborn.

“The beneficiaries of this scholarship will only be students who are extremely poor and in danger of quitting school.

“Meanwhile we are conscious of the facts that there are different funds by the FGN on education such as NELFUND which the student are presently enjoying and we would ensure that those that have benefited in such schemes would not enjoy that of our board.

“Therefore, I urge our students to quickly take this opportunity. Get the form and follow the guidelines. We would ensure the process is transparent to ensure those that deserve it gets it.”
